Unlocking Your Potential

Holistic health provides a window to optimal wellness.

However, no universal solution helps us all in the same ways.

Each individual carries unique internal (genetic) and external (environmental, cultural, lifestyle, etc.) health influences. Considering this fact, developing a personalized health plan is essential.

Personalization in Holistic Health

To develop a personal holistic plan, one must first understand the importance of personalization in health and wellness. We should all be wary of claims of a “magic” supplement, diet, or routine that can help everyone achieve their health goals.

As genetic and environmental health influences uniquely affect each person, the optimal plan is tailored to address these individual needs precisely.

In other words, a plan that works wonders for one person may not work for someone else. A custom diet that helps one lose weight and boost energy may affect another person differently and make them feel sluggish and unsatisfied. Similarly, a particular technique to relieve stress in one person may have limited or adverse effects on someone else.

Personalization in holistic health means identifying and catering to your unique differences. Holistic health urges you to take the time to understand your individual needs, preferences and circumstances truly. In doing so, you’re equipped with the tools to develop an enjoyable, fulfilling health plan tailored specifically to you.

Holistic Health Assessment

The initial step in developing your personalized health plan is to perform a holistic health assessment.

Unlike conventional medical practices that often emphasize only physical health, holistic perspective considers the entire person.

By acknowledging all aspects of the body, including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, are interconnected, you can recognize a deficiency in one area may cause issues in other factors.

A holistic health assessment accounts for influences such as:

Physical Health

Account for aspects of your physical health, such as your diet, sleeping habits, exercise levels, sleeping habits, and any physical symptoms/conditions you currently have.

Establishing baseline measurements and milestones to craft tangible goals may be beneficial. Feel free to utilize diagnostic tests such as blood pressure, body composition, or cholesterol levels.

Improvements to physical health manifest as better sleep, higher energy levels, and improved metabolism, to name just a few benefits.

Mental & Emotional Health

When crafting your holistic plan, consider factors (stress levels, mood, mental health conditions, etc.) influencing your mental/emotional health.

Don’t hesitate to seek advice or counselling from a licenced therapist for professional advice.

Track your mental and emotional well-being with daily mood trackers or journaling to identify trends and patterns.

Lifestyle

Make an objective evaluation of your daily habits and routines.

Consider adverse influences such as your work-life balance, social relationships, and potentially harmful vices like binge drinking or smoking.

Like physical health, your lifestyle assessment will likely include your diet and exercise routines.

Spiritual Health

Your connection to spirituality and how you practice this connection are essential to your health and well-being.

Whether this includes an assessment of your sense of purpose, a connection to a greater power/being, or your commitment to meditation or prayer, spirituality plays a huge role in our overall wellness.

The Ongoing Cycle of Holistic Healing

A holistic health assessment aims to understand one’s overall health and well-being and identify areas where improvements may be beneficial. The holistic approach provides a comprehensive picture of one’s health status by considering the entire picture.

Performing a holistic assessment provides the tools to develop a personalized holistic health plan tailored to your specific needs and integrated into your daily life.

Your Personalized Health Plan

Holistic Healing as an Everyday Practice

It’s essential to remember that a holistic health assessment is not a one-time practice and that one must constantly reevaluate their needs as they change.

As you progress throughout your health journey, you may surpass the milestones and goals you initially established. As these changes arise, you must continually re-evaluate your current status and, if necessary, adjust your holistic health plan.
